ADULT
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD TEAM:
This ministry involves participants to share the Word of God in a
comprehensible way with children ages 5 through 10 years.
Children are blessed during the Sunday, 10AM. Mass and are sent forth
with adult leaders in a separate space with the church to share the Liturgy of
the Word and dwell on the relevance of the Word in their lives.
Using approved texts that follow the same readings that adults share on
each Sunday, the children listen and respond in song to the Word of God.
They listen to an age-appropriate homily by one of the adult team
members. They recite a profession
of faith and pray intercessory prayers. They
join the assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. ADULT
FUNERAL SERVERS:
Adult
servers assist the priest at Funeral Masses. You would be asked to carry the
cross, to handle the incense and to prepare the altar. ART
and ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE:
This team assumes the responsibility of the
aesthetics of the worship space through the seasons of the Church according to
the directives on Art and Environment in the Church.
This team works together so that everyone entering our parish will feel
included and comfortable in an appealing surrounding, from the steps of the
church to the narthex, through the worship space and nave.
The team provides a subtle yet powerful beauty when liturgies and other
celebrations occur. MARTHA
MINISTRY:
This group works together to maintain and
care for our beautiful place of worship. Volunteers become acquainted with the preparation before a
liturgy or the aftermath of a celebration.
Other responsibilities include unlocking church doors, turning lights and
fans on before liturgies, keeping track of bread and wine for ordering purposes,
cleaning altar linens, checking and maintaining candles, performing light
housekeeping and other associated duties. SPIRITUAL
LIFE TEAM: LIFE
(Living In Faith Everyday) offers
an opportunity to be renewed each day in faith and vigor. The parish offshoot to
our 2002-2003 RENEW program, this team is designed to provide a solid basis of
spiritual renewal in the young and old alike.
The team fosters small discussion groups which enriches the wider
community in spiritual and catechetical development. LAY
WAKE
LEADERS: Men and women who assist by leading the
Vigil Rite during the wake of a parishioner. These men and women represent the
Parish and our Parish Family to the mourners and lead the deceased family and
friends in prayer. Training is provided. A vigil rite leaders book is provided.
The vigil service lasts about 15 minutes and the wake leader does the vigil rite
sometime during the wake hours. WEDDING COORDINATOR: Works to ensure a wonderful liturgical celebration on a couple’s special day. From the first step that begins with their conversation with the pastor in reserving a date for this sacramental celebration, the couple will receive assistance in the selection of readings and music, with the rehearsal for wedding, and many other details that need the special attention and help that this team provides. |
